Visual Studio 2005/2008 SQL Query Designer Sucks

I suck at making these videos, but I had to get something out there to see if anyone has figured out a way around this problem. Using good old SQL Server Enterprise Manager 2000 I can select fields by pressing the space bar. Switching over to Visual Studio 2005, when I press the space bar the behavior is unpredictable, but never desirable. Sometimes nothing happens, sometimes I get another field altogether. Clicking the mouse also sometimes doesn’t work.
